Add statements

Download your transactions as a CSV file from your bank or card website, then add them here. Most formats work (for example Chase, Amex, Capital One, Discover, Citi, and most credit unions). Duplicates are skipped and each charge is sorted into a category automatically.

Set up your plan

Your pay schedule

The By paycheck view splits your spending into your pay periods. Each plan amount is your monthly plan scaled to the number of days in the period.

Monthly spending plan

How much you want to spend each month in each category. Leave a category at 0 if it isn't part of your plan. The starting amounts are only examples.

Loan and savings targets

What you plan to send to debt payments and to savings each month. Add a new row when your plan changes (for example, once a savings goal is reached). Each row applies from its start month until the next row.

Your own category rules

If a merchant keeps landing in the wrong category, add a word from its description here. Your rules are checked before the built-in ones. Examples: your employer's name for Income, your landlord for Housing, your loan servicer for Student loans, or the name a family member uses on Zelle.

Save, back up or move your data

Your data is saved in this browser on this device, and nobody else can see it. Browsers can forget it (for example when site data is cleared), so keep a copy somewhere else too. Pick whichever is easiest:

  • Save to Claude: puts your data in a chat in your own Claude account (a free account works), where you can also ask Claude about it. Tap it for step-by-step instructions.
  • Save backup file: on a phone, pick Save to Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive or another app. On a computer it downloads. Load it again with Restore from file.
  • Save a copy with my data: saves this whole page with your data inside it, as a file you can open on any computer.

How to use

  1. Open Set up your plan and replace the example amounts with your own monthly spending plan and loan and savings targets.
  2. On your bank and card websites, download recent transactions as CSV. Choose CSV, not PDF or Quicken.
  3. Tap Add CSV files. You can add several files at once, and adding the same file twice won't double count.
  4. Tap a category to see its charges and its monthly amount. Use the dropdown on any charge to move it to another category.
  5. Add your own rules for things only you would know: your employer, landlord, loan servicer, or a person you pay regularly.
  6. Use By paycheck to see spending for each pay period. Set how often you're paid in Set up your plan (weekly, every two weeks, twice a month or monthly), or let the tracker find your paydays from your deposits.
  7. Tap Ask Claude about my spending to send your numbers to your own Claude chat for analysis (a free account works).
  8. Repeat each month. When you're done, tap Save a copy with my data and open that newest file next time. That way your data never depends on the browser remembering it.

Card payments and transfers between your own accounts are left out of spending so nothing is counted twice. This is a tracking tool, not financial advice.
